alex maunder - Focusing Member in london
Ever since I first discovered a way of combining the Alexander Technique (discovered by F M Alexander) with Focusing (developed by Eugene Gendlin) I have been amazed at the power of this crossing of two very subtle, non-doing techniques. This is a dynamic psycho-physical therapy that allows a natural process of self-transformation to take place. My great friend Kevin McEvenue called it Wholebody Focusing, which is a very descriptive name. But the essential 3 steps of connecting with your inner Body Wisdom are: Expand your mind, Open your heart and Listen to the silence within.......In that silence within, your inner body wisdom can speak..... I published my first book - Let Your Life Flow (C W Daniels, 2002), which explains the Alexander Technique and describes how it can be integrated with Gestalt Psychotherapy and Focusing. I published my next book "Wholebodyfocusing - Neural Pathways to Prosperity, Health & Wisdom" (www.lulu.com) in 2017. I am now a Co-ordinator in Training and able to train people up to Certificate and Trainer level, certified with the Focusing Institute and BFA.
What I'm Doing Now
I am a Focusing Co-ordinator in training and I am able to offer regular weekend workshops and on-line training for people who want to become Trainers Wholebody Focusing. The emphasis is on getting into Grounded Presence and being able to connect with your Inner Wisdom and Guidance. I give personal WBF Skype sessions for clients from all over the UK and the world, for personal growth and therapy. I have extensive experience in helping clients to overcome trauma and blockages. Currently I am running a Neuroscience Brain Research program using brain SPEC scans and qEEG scans to increase our understanding of the scientific basis of Focusing. Focusing can dramatically change brain rhythms, restructure and reintegrate the brain. There is clear evidence of neuroplasticity as a result of regular Focusing sessions. In addition I am also engaged with running workshops in a couple of old farm houses in Brittany, France, where people come together for longer or shorter periods for Focusing Retreats, living in community and communicating from a place of Grounded Presence.
