Eileen Fendick

Devon

Focusing was the missing 'something' in my life.

It felt OK to feel, playful, loving and happy.

But, what do I do with my feelings, when I'm feeling upset, jealous or miserable?

I was aware of my feelings taking me over, and 'acting out' my moods and frustrations onto others.

Since learning to Focus, I now know, that what I call difficult feelings, are parts of me, trying to attract my attention, for me to interact with them. By focusing my time and attention on 'something' in me feeling out of sorts, with acceptance, and caring, it is able to feel acknowledged, heard, and understood. I, in turn, feel a whole lot better!

Because my life has benefited from Focusing, I want to pass it on to parents, educators and those who care for children. They, in turn, can pass it on to the children they care for.

Children are natural focusers. If they are listened to, heard, and understood by their carers, they eventually learn to do this for themselves. They will then have a way to work through most of their strong feelings and emotions, and will not have to act them out onto others, or take so many unprocessed childhood feelings into adulthood.

I am a Parent Network trained relationship-skills facilitator.
I have been Focusing myself for 15 years.
I am a trained Focusing teacher within the British Focusing Teachers Association.
Also recognised as a trainer by The Focusing Institute in New York.
I have an International training certificate for teaching Focusing to children.

What I'm doing

Individual sessions to teach Focusing or give a Focusing session.
Individual counselling or focusing sessions on family issues.
The above also for those working or caring for children with issues arising in the workplace.
Weekend workshops on how to teach Focusing to children are offered when requested.
A five day comprehensive training for parents and those who work with or care for children.
Covering communication skills, all aspects of feelings, relating skills, needs that underlie behaviour, negotiating conflicts, how to encourage co-operation rather than confrontation.
Inner-relationship work with our own child within, etc. Days to be agreed by participants, to allow for work and family commitments. These trainings can take place when six or more participants sign up.
