More

For many of us grief is something we turn away from yet so often, when we pay kind attention to the body… it remembers, or it asks us to remember. It holds both the knowing about what was lost and the key to its healing. Our task is to open a space and listen. This five week course, for those who know Focusing, will open a space to explore these landscapes. It will offer us a sacred space to deeply listen to ourselves and each other in this transformative landscape. Some of the themes we will explore:

  • The gatekeepers of grief - what keeps us away
  • The five gates of grief (from Francis Weller)
  • What the body knows about loss and healing
  • Tending grief in community
Starts 10th February 2020 Six Monday evenings 6-8.15pm Cost: £120. Concessions available

More

Focusing is a process that can enrich all areas of our lives, as it is about the very way that we attend to our experiencing. It can help us to step out of our habitual ways of relating to ourselves, others, situations and into a way of experiencing that is more nuanced, rich and alive. Focusing is a natural skill that anyone can develop and Focusing-listening partnerships are a brilliant resource for supporting our wellbeing and ongoing self exploration. Focusing could be seen as an antidote to the fast driven ways of the modern world – and perhaps can help us steer a calmer path through it! Learning Focusing can help

  • developing more of a connection with your body
  • improving your relationship with yourself
  • improving your self esteem
  • supporting you with overwhelming emotions such as anxiety
  • connecting with your intuition
The workshop will be highly experiential and will include plenty of opportunity to practice the Focusing process. There will be time to explore the concept of the ‘felt sense’ and the particular way of Focusing listening, as well as how Focusing can be used in day to day life. There is the option to complete a second workshop, then potentially four more weekend workshops which lead to a BFA Certificate in Focusing Skills. Once you have learnt this valuable process you can practice Focusing on your own or in a Focusing-listening partnership. Practising Focusing can be a lifelong skill for self awareness and support. More

This workshop follows on from my Introduction to Focusing day one. You may choose to attend this second day after having attended one of my day one workshops or if you have attended a one day Focusing Introduction with another teacher. This day two of the Introduction will provide further opportunity to consolidate your learning from day one, gain more practice with Focusing and learn about Clearing a Space. Clearing a Space is a process which can be used as a standalone practice, useful for dealing with overwhelm, or as a step within the Focusing process. We will also explore the Focusing attitude. After attending this second day of the Introduction you would be in a position to seek a Focusing partner through the BFA's Focusing partners pool. Practice of Focusing with a partner is a great way to look after yourself and cultivate a different sort of awareness. Introduction to Relational Wholebody Focusing

More

Relational Whole Body Focusing (RWBF)  uses the intelligence of the mind to track and name moment to moment bodily sensations, in relationship with another person. This connects you to the ‘We Space’ and a shared human experience. Creating the ‘We Space’ as a safe and spacious container is key to learning RWBF. It helps you to recognise your own relational patterns and triggers, and it brings you an expanded sense of self, greater awareness, more choice and healing. Relational Whole body Focusing was developed by Karen Whalen and Kevin McEvenue. This two-day workshop will provide an introduction to Relational Whole Body Focusing and you will learn tools that can be applied right away. No prior experience of Focusing or Relational Whole Body Focusing is needed.   This workshop can be of interest to people who have no experience of focusing and to experienced focusers alike because RWBF is a different(but related) process . Relational Wholebody Focusing can help you:

  • Improve your listening skills
  • Deepen your relationships in everyday life (and in your focusing partnerships, if you are already a focuser)
  • Learn to better manage trigger reactions to unexpected and undesired situations
  • Increase your sense of wholeness as a person and in your life

More information on http://www.ruthfriedman.com And on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFsqvqIcYpw&t=1s   Testimonials ‘The training helped me realise how little I was in touch with my body before and how important it is. I had ignored all signs that my body was giving me even to the point of reaching burnout. Ruth clearly explained and supported me in the exploration to become more present and to help dealing with difficult emotions. I am glad I had the chance to participate in the training.’  Michaela, coach and trainer   ‘Ruth Friedman’s work has assisted enormously in helping me feel more safe and confident in the world.  I am now much more capable of handling situations without becoming overwhelmed. She is a caring and compassionate healer and I highly recommend working with her’    Wendalyn, composer and writer  Thank you for this workshop today which provided the possibility for me to see myself from another angle and to experience something that I have not experienced before. Thank you for your flexibility, trust and patience ….. I appreciate it a lot’  Annamaria, Civil Servant   ‘The process felt very, very complete. This gave stability and grounding the days after which really contributed to my well-being. The last few weeks haven’t been very easy: there was a lot of pressure and stress I was dealing with and that needed to settle down. This work and especially the sense of being able to welcome all the aspects of my being contributed to this.    Joris, Integration Officer

Introduction to Focusing – Improving our relationship with ourselves

introductory Course

This course is not just about the grief of losing a loved one. We live with many kinds of grief and all are welcome here. Open to anyone who has knows the basics of Focusing and Listening in paired practice.   Six Tuesday evenings 7-9.15 Costs £120
