More

Are you "at war" with yourself? or find it hard to accept aspects of yourself? Do your inner critics get the better of you? Are there feelings you wish you never had? and would you like to be at peace with yourself, harnessing all your feelings and energies? if so you may be relived to know… Everything inside of you is on your side. The embodied practice known as ‘Focusing’ gives us a trustworthy way of finding deep acceptance and compassion towards every feeling inside. It is a gentle yet powerful skill that can bring compassion and curiosity to even the most tricky aspects of ourself (think of the part of you that acts compulsively or you harsh inner judge). Once learnt, we will no longer have to be at war with any part of us…. and we can even discover the treasure these parts hold. At this free talk/taster, we will get to practice a key skill that begins us on our journey of self acceptance and learn more about why we have no enemies within. 7.30 - 8.30pm Gold room, Centre for Science and art, Lansdown Rd, Stroud Register by contacting me.

Learning to sense inwards is at the basis of Focusing. During Level One the emphasis is upon noticing messages that your body gives you and accepting everything that you become aware of. Focusing is very natural and gentle and at the same time you might find that working at this level is powerful and revealing. Throughout the training there will be opportunities to share in the group, and to work with your own process. There will be a mixture of Focusing theory, discussion and practice. Taught by Paula Newman and Elizabeth Smith

More

This 2-day workshop is open to anyone with experience of Focusing and Listening. Ideally, participants will also have a little experience of Wholebody Focusing - I would be happy to arrange a one-to-one introduction prior to the event if you are new to it. Finding and maintaining a deeper connection with the whole living body in our Focusing and Listening creates a magical space in which the felt sense can unfold in new and surprising ways. In this workshop we will delve a little further into this territory - also inviting movement and stillness, words and silence, inclusion of the wider environment, and a true sense of authentic connection between focuser and listener. More

This comprehensive foundation course in Focusing and listening is a combination of online (Zoom) group sessions and one long-weekend residential retreat. No prior experience of Focusing is required. The course is divided into five sections: four blocks of four Zoom sessions (16 in total), between mid-January and the end of June, plus a residential retreat on April 5th - 7th. The retreat will be held at the Purley Chase Centre, near Atherstone in Warwickshire. You are welcome to attend the introductory block of four Zoom sessions without committing upfront to the whole course if you wish. Each online group will have a maximum of five participants and all participants will be invited to come together for the in-person retreat. If the residential component is not accessible for you, it is also possible to do this section of the course online. The times and dates for the Zoom calls will be decided according to participants' availability. It is likely that there will be one daytime group and one evening group running in parallel. In this small-group setting, you will find the course offers a welcoming, sensitively-held space where you feel able to turn up ‘just as you are’. Each session will include time to settle in together, some input on Focusing and companioning and Focusing time in pairs or threes. The main themes of the five course sections are:

  • An introduction to Focusing and companioning
  • The nature of the felt sense and how to receive your own and others’ experience skilfully and sensitively
  • The gifts of the body in Focusing and companioning
  • Offering suggestions in the listening role, and being with complex areas of inner experience
  • Self-criticism, ‘exile’ and Focusing in everyday life
We will explore these themes together in an experiential way, allowing plenty of time for your own input and reflections. The cost of each section of the course is £120 (plus accommodation costs for the retreat). Please email me for further information and booking form. I look forward to hearing from you!

Travel Lighter.  This course comprises of 4 long weekends at beautiful An Tionol, Compassionate Community Centre, Gort, Co Galway, Ireland. Venue easily accessible from UK with cheap flights to Shannon airport & then 1 hour away. BFA Certificated What do you do when you want to let go of something in you, but it is not ready to let go of you!? How wonderful would it be if you could ‘be with yourself’ in a way that inspired flow and movement even with the most challenging of patterns, to tap into your innate body wisdom? Learn how to Travel Lighter through this life moment by moment! What is Focusing? It is a way of ‘coming home’ to yourself – a means of radical acceptance of anything inviting a sense of ease, flow and freedom. It is an exquisitely sensitive way of listening to or sensing what our (inner) world is telling us, often in the form of subtle feelings/sensations, in a way that is safe and gentle. It offers a creative and quietly profound way of being even with what we find most difficult and challenging. In focusing we are often pleasantly surprised by fresh or new spaces emerging, even from ‘impossibly stuck’ places. It is, in my experience a deeply satisfying process allowing my heart and soul space to breathe and be itself, to find its own sense of rightness. https://soundcloud.com/simon-mckibbin/exquisite-self-healing-through-focusing-an-intro-attunement   Overview year-long Focusing Foundation Course [This is a 4 long-weekend Module Learning and Community Experience]

More

Would you love to let go of something in you? ....but it is not ready to let go of you!?   How wonderful would it be if you could ‘be with yourself’ in a way that inspired flow and movement into your fresh edge even with the most challenging of patterns? Learn how to Travel Lighter with Focusing in your life.   What is Focusing? It is a moment by moment way of ‘coming home’ to yourself. Through it I have come to appreciate the extraordinary depth of vision that Gene had. I am therefore touched to share this precious vision, for my own quality of balance and growth and the sanity of the world, which badly needs it!  I believe I enrich Focusing through my 30 years as a Mindfulness practitioner and teacher and as a Non Violent Communication (NVC) trainer.  I am currently on placement with Cambridge University involved in a Mindfulness research project and teaching Focusing based Mindfulness to the students.
