Portals into Presence Webinar Sat 13 April 19 1.30pm to 6pm GMT

More

Over the last two years we – Wholebody Focusing trainers Cecelia Clegg and Addie van der Kooy - have presented a variety of webinars on Presence which have given us invaluable insight into what it takes to access and sustain an experience of ‘embodied Presence’; and what gets in the way of this. Embodied Presence points to an experience of felt sensing an “underlying field of alive Presence” which is totally unaffected by whatever goes on inside and around you.  To include a felt sense of this Being dimension in us can create a new and powerful dynamic in your Focusing, often opening doors to deep healing shifts. Based on these insights we have designed a new experiential webinar, which will take you on a step-by-step journey into a full-bodied experience of Presence or “Me Here”.  With each portal we will look at potential pitfalls, such as the way in which we habitually relate to the present moment, how we relate to our thoughts and how we assess our momentary experiences. There will also be plenty of time to practice what it takes to go deeper into an experience of Presence.  Each practice will be followed by an opportunity to share your experiences within the safety of a small group of fellow Focusers. Anyone who is familiar with Focusing, regardless of the level of training and experience, is welcome.  Best to book swiftly as there will be a limited number of places available. Date & Time: Saturday 13thApril from 1.30pm till 6pm GMT, with a 30 minute break at the mid point. Venue: Virtual “meeting room” on Zoom platform.  Zoom (like Skype) is very user-friendly and easy-to-install software for on-line video meetings.  If you do not already have Zoom on your computer, you will be given simple instructions for downloading Zoom (free of charge) prior to the sessions. Booking: The cost for the webinar is £80. To book your place, email Cecelia Clegg on ceceliaclegg44@gmail.com who will send you payment instructions.

More

Focusing is a process that can enrich all areas of our lives, as it is about the very way that we attend to our experiencing. It can help us to step out of our habitual ways of relating to ourselves, others, situations and into a way of experiencing that is more nuanced, rich and alive. Focusing is a natural skill that anyone can develop and Focusing-listening partnerships are a brilliant resource for supporting our wellbeing and ongoing self exploration. Focusing could be seen as an antidote to the fast driven ways of the modern world – and perhaps can help us steer a calmer path through it! Learning Focusing can help

  • developing more of a connection with your body
  • improving your relationship with yourself
  • improving your self esteem
  • supporting you with overwhelming emotions such as anxiety
  • connecting with your intuition
The workshop will be highly experiential and will include plenty of opportunity to practice the Focusing process. There will be time to explore the concept of the ‘felt sense’ and the particular way of Focusing listening, as well as how Focusing can be used in day to day life. There is the option to complete a second workshop, then potentially four more weekend workshops which lead to a BFA Certificate in Focusing Skills. Once you have learnt this valuable process you can practice Focusing on your own or in a Focusing-listening partnership. Practising Focusing can be a lifelong skill for self awareness and support. More

This workshop follows on from my Introduction to Focusing day one. You may choose to attend this second day after having attended one of my day one workshops or if you have attended a one day Focusing Introduction with another teacher. This day two of the Introduction will provide further opportunity to consolidate your learning from day one, gain more practice with Focusing and learn about Clearing a Space. Clearing a Space is a process which can be used as a standalone practice, useful for dealing with overwhelm, or as a step within the Focusing process. We will also explore the Focusing attitude. After attending this second day of the Introduction you would be in a position to seek a Focusing partner through the BFA's Focusing partners pool. Practice of Focusing with a partner is a great way to look after yourself and cultivate a different sort of awareness. What previous participants have said

I always feel welcomed, comfortable and safe on the weekends. I have learned a lot and these weekends always inspire me to look a little deeper I really appreciate how clearly everything is explained.  The course notes are well set out and very clear.  It is good to have something to take away and reflect on after the weekend.  It was lovely to be in such an open and accepting group I have been surprised and pleased to discover how gentle focusing is

BFA Certified Focusing Teacher I met Eugene Gendlin on Summer School at Garrison in about 2000 and was touched by the humanity and humility he displayed which endeared me to him both as a Human Being and as a tremendous inspiration to explore Focusing. I have, I believe, benefited more from Focusing than any other paradigm for transformation which is based on the body’s innate and natural ability to receive it’s own healing and forward movement when brought into a safe and resonant relationship with self and others. I combine Focusing with elements of Non-Violent Communication NVC and Mindfulness to further enrich the natural process of healing and community Support Facilitator Marta Fabregat MA Social & Community Mediator Skills. More

This 2-day workshop is open to anyone with experience of Focusing and Listening. Ideally, participants will also have a little experience of Wholebody Focusing - I would be happy to arrange a one-to-one introduction prior to the event if you are new to it. Finding and maintaining a deeper connection with the whole living body in our Focusing and Listening creates a magical space in which the felt sense can unfold in new and surprising ways. In this workshop we will delve a little further into this territory - also inviting movement and stillness, words and silence, inclusion of the wider environment, and a true sense of authentic connection between focuser and listener. More

We all suffer from this very human tendency to avoid difficult situations and feelings. We procrastinate, deny, distract and avoid, and then we give ourselves a hard time for doing this. And so the battle continues. It could be some conflict with a family member, or as big as the current ecological crisis. Something in us avoids it. What if you had a way to get beneath the battle and completely change your experience of these areas of our life, what if you could be kind to those parts of you that turn away and make allies of them? What if you could learn to be curious about anything… This free 60 minute seminar will introduce a new way of looking at, exploring and even transforming these stuck areas of our life. Focusing: A Gateway To Happiness

introductory Course

A two day workshop "Focusing: A Gateway to Happiness" at Walworth Garden Farm, London, that runs on Friday 18:00 - 21:00 & Saturday at 10:00 - 17:00 on the 21 & 22 September 2018

Your whole being wants you to be well, happy and healthy! “Focusing” was developed through extensive research by Eugene Gendlin and colleagues.  In this workshop you will learn the basic practice of Focusing and some simple ways of incorporating it into your life. It will help you become more in touch with your core self and open to the possibilities of life fully lived.

The course is divided into five sections: four blocks of four Zoom sessions (i.e. 16 in total), between mid-January and the end of June, plus the residential retreat on April 20th - 22nd. You are welcome to attend the introductory block of four Zoom sessions without committing upfront to the whole course if you wish. Each online  group will have a maximum of five participants and all participants will be invited to come together for the in-person retreat. There are currently places available in a Thursday evening group (6 - 8.15pm) commencing on January 18th. If this day or time doesn't work for you, do let me know as a further group may form. In this small-group setting, you will find the course offers a welcoming, sensitively-held space where you feel able to turn up 'just as you are'. Each session will include time to settle in together, some input on Focusing and companioning, and Focusing time in pairs or threes. The themes of the five course sections are:

  • An introduction to Focusing and companioning
  • The nature of the felt sense, and how to receive your own and others' experience skilfully and sensitively
  • The gifts of the body in Focusing and companioning
  • Offering suggestions in the listening role, and being with complex areas of inner experience
  • Self-criticism, 'exile' and Focusing in everyday life
We will explore these themes together in an experiential way, allowing plenty of time for your own input and reflections. The cost of each section is £120 (plus accommodation costs for the retreat). Please email me for further information and booking form. I look forward to hearing from you!

More

NATURAL WISDOM For thousands of years, people have walked the land with questions in their hearts. They listened and opened to what we could call their intuitive wisdom. This walk will offer you a chance to learn how to access this intuitive or bodily knowing. Most of our lives are driven by our intellect and "strategic" mind, but what does your body know about your life? Through reflective practices based on "Focusing" and mindfulness we will open up new doorways to our intuition. We will find new answers to old issues, we will find ways to listen afresh to ourselves, each other and the natural world. We will send time alone, in pairs and as a community. By the end of the day you will: Have learnt some new skills to access your intuitive wisdom Know how to meet parts of yourself that "block" the process Met the natural world, not from your mind but with your body WHAT DOES THE DAY HOLD IN STORE? When was the last time you had a whole day to roam wild and free? Nowhere to be, no one to meet, no plan, no sense of time, no set pace, no map, no destination. A whole day when you could let go of absolutely everything and simply follow your energy and curiosity? We meet at 9 am in the morning (in a secret location less that 10 mins drive from Stroud) and begin to roam through wild bluebells and ancient beech forests, free to explore the land and our inner landscape with ease and curiosity. The day will be infused with a range of practices that help us meet ourselves, each other and nature with intimacy, open up to the majestic and give ourselves over to the moment completely - both within and without. We will go at a slow pace and cover around 5 miles. It is not a trek but a meander through our rich and myriad experience.
