Travel Lighter.  This course comprises of 4 long weekends at beautiful An Tionol, Compassionate Community Centre, Gort, Co Galway, Ireland. Venue easily accessible from UK with cheap flights to Shannon airport & then 1 hour away. BFA Certificated What if…..you already have within you surprising inner resources to life's dilemmas & frustrations? What if ….you could connect to a compassionate wisdom within you whenever in need? What is Focusing? It is a way of ‘coming home’ to yourself – a means of radical acceptance of anything inviting a sense of ease, flow and freedom. It is an exquisitely sensitive way of listening to or sensing what our (inner) world is telling us, often in the form of subtle feelings/sensations, in a way that is safe and gentle. It offers a creative and quietly profound way of being even with what we find most difficult and challenging. In focusing we are often pleasantly surprised by fresh or new spaces emerging, even from ‘impossibly stuck’ places. It is, in my experience a deeply satisfying process allowing my heart and soul space to breathe and be itself, to find its own sense of rightness. More

Focusing is Mindfulness – and more. We explore ways of being with ourselves, our experiences and emotions; improving our sense of wellbeing and physical and mental health. These are natural skills that we can rediscover and reconnect with. Non-judgemental, safe and gentle, they support us in finding insights into issues in our lives and reconnecting with the flow of life within us. As we turn to our present moment experience together, we learn ways to help guide us in creativity, decision-making and emotional wisdom. Handouts will be available. No assessment or written work is required, although you may wish to bring pen and paper for note-taking. This day school can be a stand-alone introduction to Focusing, and it also forms the first six hours of the 60-hour Focusing Skills course, recognised by the British Focusing Association. Day 2 will be on 21st October 2017 and 17th February 2018 If you have previously attended an introduction to Focusing then you are also very welcome to join us; many people find that repeating Focusing Skills enables them to find more depth in their experience. For further information, contact me at csamuels@carolannsamuels.co.uk. Please book your place here.

More

This comprehensive foundation course in Focusing and listening is a combination of online (Zoom) group sessions and one long-weekend residential retreat. The course is divided into five sections: four blocks of four Zoom sessions (i.e. 16 in total), between mid-January and end of June, plus the residential retreat in April. No prior-experience of Focusing is required. You are welcome to attend the introductory block of four Zoom sessions without committing upfront to the whole course if you wish. I expect to run one daytime and one evening group for the online sessions. Each group will have a maximum of five participants and all participants will be invited to come together for the in-person retreat. If the residential component is not accessible for you, it is also possible to do this section of the course online. In this small-group setting, you will find the course offers a welcoming, sensitively-held space where you feel able to turn up 'just as you are'. Each session will include time to settle in together, some input on Focusing and companioning, and Focusing time in pairs or threes. The themes of the five course sections are:

  • An introduction to Focusing and companioning
  • The nature of the felt sense, and how to receive your own and others' experience skilfully and sensitively
  • The gifts of the body in Focusing and companioning
  • Offering suggestions in the listening role, and being with complex areas of inner experience
  • Self-criticism, 'exile' and Focusing in everyday life
We will explore these themes together in an experiential way, allowing plenty of time for your own input and reflections. The cost of each section is £120 (plus accommodation costs for the retreat). Please email me for further information and booking form. I look forward to hearing from you!
