More

This comprehensive foundation course in Focusing and listening is a combination of online (Zoom) group sessions and one long-weekend residential retreat. No prior experience of Focusing is required. The course is divided into five sections: four blocks of four weekly Zoom sessions (16 in total), between January and the end of June, plus a residential retreat on April 5th - 7th. The retreat will be held at the Purley Chase Centre, near Atherstone in Warwickshire. You are welcome to attend the introductory block of four Zoom sessions without committing upfront to the whole course if you wish. Each online group will have a maximum of five participants and all participants will be invited to come together for the in-person retreat. If the residential component is not accessible for you, it is also possible to do this section of the course online. There will be two Zoom groups running in parallel: one on Tuesday afternoons, one on Wednesday mornings and a possible third group on Wed or Thurs evening. In this small-group setting, you will find the course offers a welcoming, sensitively-held space where you feel able to turn up ‘just as you are’. Each session will include time to settle in together, some input on Focusing and companioning and Focusing time in pairs or threes. The main themes of the five course sections are:

  • An introduction to Focusing and companioning
  • The nature of the felt sense and how to receive your own and others’ experience skilfully and sensitively
  • The gifts of the body in Focusing and companioning
  • Offering suggestions in the listening role, and being with complex areas of inner experience
  • Self-criticism, ‘exile’ and Focusing in everyday life
We will explore these themes together in an experiential way, allowing plenty of time for your own input and reflections. Course fees: The cost for each block of online sessions is £120 and the long weekend residential fee is £140 (plus a donation for accommodation). I always feel welcomed, comfortable and safe on the weekends. I have learned a lot and these weekends always inspire me to look a little deeper I really appreciate how clearly everything is explained.  The course notes are well set out and very clear.  It is good to have something to take away and reflect on after the weekend.  It was lovely to be in such an open and accepting group I have been surprised and pleased to discover how gentle focusing is

Focusing for a new Relationship with Traumatised Parts Year Residential Galway Ireland

Focusing for a new Relationship with Traumatised Parts: Safety, Space to breathe & Forward Movement Year Long Residential Course Galway Ireland...

More

Focusing for a new Relationship with Traumatised Parts: Safety, Space to breathe & Forward Movement Year Long Residential Course Galway Ireland 2019   Certificated Focusing Foundation Course This course comprises of 4 long weekends at beautiful An Tionol, Compassionate Community Centre, Galway, Ireland. Venue easily accessible from UK with cheap flights to Shannon airport & then 1 hour away. Focusing to Companion trauma, vulnerability, distressed, sad, and raw places Shifting from ‘Trauma Informed Care’ to ‘Healing Centred Engagement’, Focusing is a unique approach offering a sensitive and gentle way into in-depth Healing prioritising safety through grounded presence and a Companion This respectful process follows our natural energies allowing for a nurturing safety to grow where we can be supported and enabled to have a safe and spacious inner relationship. Unique to the process is Simon with his extensive Focusing, Mindfulness and NVC experience who also draws and shares from his own journey from trauma to a safe and spacious grounded way of being. We all have our edges of challenge, we don’t necessarily need to be in touch with Trauma for this deep inner and outer experience to be relevant, it is about inviting an ever increasing sense of open spacious and grounded way of being! This Year will provide you with extensive approaches to create resilience, creativity, safety and forward flow in your life. What is Focusing? It is a way of ‘coming home’ to yourself – a means of radical acceptance of anything inviting a sense of ease, flow and freedom. It is an exquisitely sensitive way of listening to or sensing what our (inner) world is telling us, often in the form of subtle feelings/sensations, in a way that is safe and gentle. It offers a creative and quietly profound way of being even with what we find most difficult and challenging. In focusing we are often pleasantly surprised by fresh or new spaces emerging, even from ‘impossibly stuck’ places. It is, in my experience a deeply satisfying process allowing my heart and soul space to breathe and be itself, to find its own sense of rightness. I met Eugene Gendlin on Summer School at Garrison in about 2000 and was touched by the humanity and humility he displayed which endeared me to him both as a Human Being and as a tremendous inspiration to explore Focusing.  I have, I believe, benefitted more from Focusing than any other paradigm for transformation which is based on the body’s innate and natural ability to receive it’s own healing and forward movement when brought into a safe and resonant relationship with self and others. I combine Focusing with elements of Non-Violent Communication NVC and Mindfulness to further enrich the natural process of healing and community More on Simon and one to one https://www.mindfulnesswithompassion.com About the Host and support Facilitator: Marta Fabregat

I trained as a social mediator, and in conflict resolution, community development and facilitation. I love hosting - holding a space, and healing in nature gives this course an exciting blend of elements to accompany the NVC process as a community adventure. An Tionól Cottage´s natural environment, with a strong presence of an Irish oak forest and its respectful approach to learning, is the vessel that holds us together as a community. It is our intention to continue opening space for new, fresh ways of communicating, connecting and being in the world.
