I am a BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist, dialectical behaviour therapist and mindfulness teacher. I trained in a number of therapeutic models, including relational, experiential/focusing-oriented and behavioural therapies. This allows me to tailor your therapy experience to your emotional needs and concerns rather than trying to fit you into a particular type of therapy. I work individuals and couples.
I have provided individual counselling and group psychological support to people experiencing depression, anxiety and other forms of distress in a variety of NHS and community settings since 2008. For a number of years I also worked at an NHS personality disorder service where people experiencing emotion regulation difficulties were supported with Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
During my years of working as a therapist I noticed how people's difficulties are often fuelled by self-criticism and self-attacking and this observation prompted my interest in finding answers to the question: "What stops us from being open not only to others but also to ourselves?". I have special interest in working with people who show traits of extreme emotional sensitivity, also known as 'highly sensitive personality', and in the therapeutic use of meditation in the modern world.
Along with a team of trusted and experienced colleagues we also provide intensive programmes in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Mentalisation Based Therapy for people living with intense emotions and urges, behavioural dysregulation, chaotic relatioships and those living with the diagnosis of borderline personality disorder (BPD).
What I'm Doing Now
In addition to working therapeutically with general public I lead and co-facilitate DBT skills groups and give individual therapy to adults diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD). Alongside my counselling work I am a practitioner of mindfulness and focusing. I offer focusing-oriented therapy both face to face and online. I also facilitate personal development programmes and retreats drawing from the principles of mindfulness, focusing, yoga and horse-assisted learning.
