  What is Focusing? It is a moment by moment way of ‘coming home’ to yourself. It is an exquisitely sensitive way of listening to or sensing what our (inner) world is telling us, often in the form of subtle feelings/sensations, in a way that is safe and gentle. It offers a creative and quietly profound way of being even with what we find most difficult and challenging. In focusing we are often pleasantly surprised by fresh or new spaces emerging, even from ‘impossibly stuck’ places. It is, in my experience a deeply satisfying process allowing my heart and soul space to breathe and be itself, to find its own sense of rightness. The online Focusing skills certificate is a complete and thorough foundation course in the art and skills of Focusing and listening. Once you have completed any introductory event, you can join the course. It comprises of four modules. Each module consists of five, two hour sessions over five weeks. There will also be partnership practice between sessions with other participants. They will take place using “Zoom”, a free online video conferencing platform. There will be a maximum of 6 people on the course, enabling a more intimate training. More details on the content for each module is found below. On these modules you will learn how to:

  • Listen with sensitivity and subtlety
  • Support the Focuser in difficult places
  • Listen to how the body “speaks”
  • Give suggestions and reminders to your Focuser
  • Find out where change and forward movement come from
  • Be with difficult and tangled issues
  • Be with critical and judgmental voices
  • Develop space for wholeness, healing and integration

Do you sense that your life is not yet expressing your deepest values and inspirations? Do you want to make changes in yourself and the world but keep getting stuck? Do you avoid or find it hard to turn towards life's challenges with creativity and kindness? WHAT DOES THE COURSE HOLD IN STORE? This is a unique opportunity to join me on a 12 week closed group course to explore what keeps us from living with full aliveness. We will delve into those aspects of our lives that "hold us back" and gently find ways to unleash the energy and power in these places. We will meet the core aspects of these tangled places (the critic, the safety guardian and the wounded one) and find new ways to befriend them. We will learn to find hidden treasure there and in the most tricky areas of our life and we will find new ways forward. Some of the themes we will explore will be:

  • Resources of: presence, metaphor and precision
  • Deep empathy
  • Befriending the Critic
  • Befriending the Safety Guardian
  • Befriending the Wounded One
