Vijay Rana

Westminster, London

Like most people I read Gendlin’s Focusing book, thought it was amazing, and then put it back on the shelf. Years later, during some grieving, a feeling washed over me and I sensed that everything would be ok, that I would be alright and survive this pain. It only lasted a few seconds but in that time I felt calm and reassured. Was this the mysterious ‘felt sense’ we perceive at a bodily level that contains an inherent wisdom? I realised it was, and from then on I immersed myself in learning Focusing. I am a qualified Focusing practitioner and am now training to be a Focusing teacher. Focusing has also added an elegant refinement to the emotional release work I practice.

What I'm doing

I teach workshops in Focusing and Embodiment Skills for Therapists.

Individual Focusing sessions are available in person (central London) and by phone or skype to either get a taste of Focusing, work on specific issues (e.g. decisions) or learn the art of Focusing.
I'm also a BACP accredited counsellor offering Focusing-oriented psychotherapy, SHEN therapist (emotional release bodywork) and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (Peter Levine's trauma resolution work).
