Practitioner programme introductory module

2nd May 2026 - 3rd May 2026

Professional Training Workshop/Event

After more than twenty years of teaching Focusing, I am now pleased to be setting up a training programme for practitioners. Whether you are aiming to offer one-to-one Focusing sessions and teaching, to incorporate Focusing into the work you are already doing as a counsellor, therapist or healer, to bring Focusing into your creative practice or simply to explore Focusing more deeply without knowing yet where it may lead you, you are welcome to join this introductory module. In it we will look at both the requirements for the training and your hopes and expectations for it, and we will of course take time for Focusing and getting to know each other in a Focusing way. The module will take place online over two mornings, Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May, from 10.00 am – 1.00 pm each day.

If you choose to continue with the training, you will be encouraged to learn at your own pace and in your own way, and to develop an individual project on a topic that particularly interests you.  You will also practise and gain confidence in introducing people to Focusing. If there are sufficient numbers we will continue to meet as a group, and you will also meet individually with me and your supporting mentor. Although the group meetings will be scheduled at regular intervals, there is no set date by which you need to complete the training. This depends on what is right and possible for you, and on your and your mentors’ sense of when you are ready to become a BFA recognised Focusing practitioner.

If you are considering taking part in this training programme, it might be helpful to know a little about  what I have to offer. As well as being a long-time Focusing teacher and practitioner, I practised as a psychotherapist for more than 25 years and supervised counsellors and psychotherapists for more than 15 years. (For anyone who is not familiar with the term ‘supervision’ in this context, BFA would describe it as ‘consultative support’.)  I mentored many students in the early days of their practice and supported them in their learning. I still offer workshops on Focusing for counsellors and psychotherapists. My other particular areas of interest  are Focusing and creative process, particularly writing, and the overlap between Focusing and spiritual practice. Having said this, I am very willing to meet you in your Focusing development whatever your skills and interests may be.

Please contact meif you would like to attend this module or if you would like to know more about the practitioner programme. The cost will be £80 for the weekend. If you would like to attend but would have difficulty paying this amount, please also contact me.
