I work in person, online, individually and groups.

My background in Focusing

I trained with Peter Gill finishing in January 2020 and joined The International Focusing Institute and Irish focusing Institute. Being a practicing craniosacral therapist since 2005, focusing naturally flowed in enhancing my own embodiment and presence as well as supporting clients to come in contact with themselves which empowers them and sets them up for deeper craniosacral therapy bodywork.

Testimonials

"Learning Focusing under Deirdre's expert guidance has transformed the way I support my clients. It has also had a profound effect on my own wellbeing, and brought the concept of radical acceptance alive in my work and in my life. Highly recommended."

"I highly recommend Deirdre's Focusing course. Deirdre structured the learning and allowed plenty of time for experiential practical work. In that I experienced powerful self awareness. The gift of the course is having a tool to support my own growth, whilst meeting the joy and challenge of life."

I have just completed two Focusing courses with Deirdre, Focusing skills and Deeper listening. Focusing is different to any other modality I have experienced. As a personal practice it allows me to reconnect to my body and communicate with it in a way I have not been able to before. It helps to regulate my nervous system, clear my head, make space in my body and I always feel better after focusing.
As a craniosacral therapist I am using the Focusing skills of deeper listening in my practice that bring a new layer to what I can offer. I find I am listening to family members in a different way too.
As well as the weekly zoom call with Deirdre there are focusing opportunity's with class members on a one to one basis, this has been a crucial element to learning. These sessions have gone deep.
Deirdre has an abundance of knowledge and skill and patience, I can't recommend her courses enough. I am looking forward to the next part of this focusing journey."

I am very grateful to have the skills of Focusing to support me long after the 10 week focusing course . Focusing has shown me snapshots of my very early years and how it really was for me . These insights are shown in a gentle way and I can link these insights to how I react now to life. Having the support of a listener is a vital part of the experience, allowing a deep connection to what wants to come up in a focusing session “

“I have found Focusing to be a really useful technique of of self-discovery which helps me lead a more engaged and resilient life.
It is particularly effective when practiced with other Focusers and doing a course such as Deirdre’s is very helpful in progressing and deepening Focusing practice”

Men bottle things up..we probably need it more!!

I have been learning and exploring focusing with practitioners from different countries for five years now.
My experienced of Deirdre as a trauma lens focusing teacher is that she has a depth & capacity to hold a safe space for the groups she facilitates. she brings with her in depth knowledge and nuggets of wisdom to support others on their journey to self discovery and inner wisdom.

I started learning Focusing with Deirdre just 10 weeks ago.
It has changed the way I respond to my body and my emotions . It’s about holding all my parts .
When I am focusing “something in me is…..“ I can separate from it and feel more spacious rather than letting it take over me ...it’s not the whole of me .
It’s very gentle way to spend time following my body with out getting consumed by my emotions.
My two young girls have captured the attention of staff at their schools who have commented on how much more calmer and regulated they are. I don’t need any more proof focusing is changing my family life for better .
Having a weekly support group is really important in my life as I am otherwise often alone living a farming life. I find myself being more who I am and quietly content
