Introduction

I find Focusing enriching and healing. It supports empathic and accepting listening, which is in tune with my person-centred therapy approach. I value Focusing as a way of coping with physical ailments, and include this as a topic in my Focusing Skills Training.

What services do I offer?

BFA Certificate in Focusing Skills - Learning to Focus and Companion.
BFA Practitioner Training - Deepening your Focusing and developing a professional practice.
Supporting Mentor - For people who are on a practitioner training.
Guided Focusing sessions - For people who are new to Focusing and experienced Focusers.
Counselling clients and supervisees are welcome to include Focusing in their sessions.

My background in Focusing

Several years ago, a friend introduced me to Focusing. At the time I had no idea that it would become so important to me both personally and professionally. Focusing has become a natural way for me to be with my own material and to process my work and relationships with others.

I went on a Focusing retreat, Treasure Maps to the Soul with Barbara McGavin and Ann Weiser Cornell and then trained as a Certified Focusing Professional Trainer with Ann.

My project, ‘Bringing Focusing to a Counselling Supervision Group’ was confirmation that Focusing can increase counsellors' self-awareness and enhance their explorations in supervision. As a result, I have developed my practice to include Focusing within supervision, as well as counselling when requested.

Teaching the BFA Certificate in Focusing Skills and the BFA Practitioner Training is a great joy and continues to expand my own learning.

Testimonials

What a fabulous course this is! It has been such a wonderful journey for me, which has led to a much deeper understanding of myself. As a trainee psychotherapist it has improved my work with my clients, enabling me to be more present with my clients and work at a greater relational depth.

Paula is a fantastic teacher, her teaching style is very engaging, gentle, easy and flows. She is wonderfully warm, friendly and candid, and has such a calming presence. If you wish to enhance your therapeutic practice then you must do this course! Paula has trained under and with the best in this field, so what she doesnt know isn't worth knowing. I have so much gratitude for Paula and for the whole team who made this course very accessible, and such an amazing and rewarding experience. My therapeutic toolbox is far bigger and better as a result!

I couldn’t imagine a more lovely way to train as a Focusing Practitioner than on Paula’s course! Everything about it is to be recommended – Paula and her gentle teaching and mentoring style, the organisation, structure and content of the course itself, with its mix of theory, experiential activities, attunements, sensing in and practical role-plays, and the small group size which makes for a safe, intimate space for exploration and discovery. It is a special experience and I don’t want the training to end!
