Russ Kendall

South East

Introduction

I have a background in Psychology, which I remain passionate about, and I worked as a Psychology lecturer for many years. My particular interest in Humanistic Psychology led me to train as a Counsellor 10 years ago and I have been running a private practice for the past 6 years. I have also practiced and taught Mindfulness for many years.

I was delighted to be introduced to Focusing about 5 years ago through a counselling workshop and more recently I have co-facilitated different Focusing courses. Last year (2019) I was thrilled to qualify as a Focusing Practitioner with the British Focusing Association.

Focusing for me is a gentle way of being with our body’s knowing, so often overrun by our conditioned sense of self that holds us accountable for how we should be rather than how we are. Focusing is like a doorway to a deeper sense of self and invites a conscious relationship with what is present in all its myriad forms as they rise and fall within us. In Focusing we can have an attitude of patient, kind, acceptance and this allows for a subtle felt sense to unfold, revealing a vivid inner landscape beyond what we could conceive – the truth of how we are in a given moment.
