Sarah Hadfield

Torridge EX39 5RZ

I qualified as a medical doctor in 2001 and specialised in General Practice in 2006. I am passionate about working with physical, emotional and mental health together, as a whole person approach.

I discovered Focusing as I explored various psychotherapeutic techniques that could be used in the GP consultation. I started training in Focusing in 2017 and became a BFA certified Focusing Practitioner in 2019. During my Focusing training I have learned so much more about the body than I previously knew through my medical education. The body holds a wealth of expression and I have found that there is great value in taking time to acknowledge and explore the subjective experience of my patients in this way.

I have also found Focusing to be a deeply transformative and supportive process in my own personal growth.

What services do I offer?

I am a practising GP in the NHS and incorporate Focusing into my consultations. I teach Focusing to individuals on-line and also at my home office, First Light Clinic. I am developing a training programme to teach Focusing to GP’s as a means of improving communication skills, developing a deeper attunement with the patient’s subjective experience and enhancing self-care to prevent stress and burn-out.

How do I practice?
