Exploring Focusing and Art Making

17th November 2026 - 8th December 2026

Focusing Skills Certificate Workshop/Event

This is for anyone who is curious about ways to enhance their Focusing experience through image making.

Tuesday nights 6 – 8.30pm

During this 4 session course we will explore how creative image and symbol making can deepen our Focusing and expand our Focusing experience. Each session includes image-making, Focusing in pairs and group reflection. There will be opportunities to share your images in the group. It is also fine to decide not to share your images if you wish.

On booking the course you will get an art materials list.

You do not need to consider yourself an ‘arty’ person to join this course. A sense of curiosity and enthusiasm for having a go is far more useful. In fact we will discover that simplified imagery can often get to the essence of what we want to express more easily than ‘realistic’ images and has huge vitality because it is more basic.

Course outline

Week One – Explores the power of making simplified images and symbols to express meaningful experiences, feelings, and Focusing experiences. We will look at ways to access a sense of freedom and playfulness through create activities, including who to take the pressure off the need to ‘get it right’ A series of short creative exercises will be followed by Focusing Pairs and then group discussion.

Week Two – We begin with an exercise similar to Jung’s Active Imagination, followed by creative image making and then Focusing in pairs, and then a short group reflection.

Week Three – Group discussion followed by a longer Focusing in pairs session followed by an image making session

Week Four – This session will start with an Image making session followed by Focusing in pairs followed by another image making session. We complete the course with a group reflection and discussion.

We will make time to create a space for the Inner Critic.
